Welcome to the Bristol Branch of the NCT. Next Nearly New Sale - 11th Oct - 1-2.30pm at Redland School for Girls

Bristol NCT Branch, run by volunteers, is one of 400 branches throughout the country that supports the work of the national organisation. The committee is made up of an eclectic bunch of women and men, all united in their wish to try and help make pregnancy, birth and the early years with your children as enjoyable as possible.

While an important aspect of our work in Bristol  is to offer antenatal classes, we also offer support after the baby is born (this can take the form of help and advice with breastfeeding, a friendly voice on the end of the telephone that understands the ups and downs of life with a new baby, and the opportunity to meet other new parents/parents-to-be in the area for socialising and for mutual support).

Can anyone contact the NCT for help?

Yes! We're a charity, and our aim is to offer support and friendship to all parents. You are welcome at any of our group's open houses and at Branch events. If you feel you are able to support us by becoming a member, we would be most grateful. Your annual subscription would support our work locally and nationally, help train teachers and breastfeeding counsellors, buy books for our library, support NCT research, publish information leaflets and look after new parents.

Our antenatal teachers and breastfeeding counsellors undergo thorough training with the NCT, but they are not usually medically qualified. All teachers and counsellors are expected to keep up to date with developments in their fields and are registered annually with us. Their role is offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice, and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of the mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
